BskyDelete can help you find accounts that you follow but that do not currently follow you back. The result is a current non-reciprocal relationship, not proof that someone unfollowed you in the past.
That distinction matters. An account may never have followed you, may have changed its relationship later, or may be temporarily unavailable. Use the list to review your following choices, not to infer another person’s intent.
What “not following back” means
AT Protocol represents the two directions of a relationship separately. In the official relationship Lexicon, one field can indicate that the primary account follows a target, while another can indicate that the target follows the primary account.
For this task, BskyDelete starts with accounts in your current Following list and checks the present relationship. If you follow an account and the current relationship does not show that account following you, it can appear in the non-reciprocal results.
This answers “who is not following me back now?” It does not answer “who unfollowed me?” because BskyDelete does not store earlier follower snapshots or an unfollow event history.
How to check non-reciprocal follows with BskyDelete
- Sign in to BskyDelete and connect Bluesky through the official AT Protocol OAuth flow.
- Open the Following workspace and load the accounts you currently follow.
- Use the mutual-relationship filter to show accounts that do not currently follow you back.
- Search by handle, display name, or profile description if you need to narrow the list.
- Review each profile. On a paid plan, export selected following records before changing the relationship.
- Select only the accounts you want to unfollow and explicitly confirm the batch.
Free-plan action quotas and Bluesky API limits still apply. A large list may load or update in multiple batches.
Use bot and inactivity signals carefully
The Following workspace also has genuine paid-plan filters for suspicious bots and inactive users.
The bot score is a heuristic built from public profile signals, including profile completeness, account age, moderation labels, follower/following ratios, zero-post/high-following patterns, and some handle patterns. It can identify accounts worth reviewing more closely, but it is not definitive fake-account detection.
The inactive filter estimates activity from visible post count relative to account age. It does not have access to a private last-login timestamp and cannot prove an account has been abandoned.
These signals answer different questions from reciprocity:

Combining the filters can prioritize a long review list, but do not automatically treat every matching account as one you should remove.
A manual method for a small account
For a short list, you can compare your current Following and Followers lists manually. Match stable DIDs when possible rather than relying only on handles, because handles can change. For a larger account, an API-based comparison must paginate both datasets completely. Missing pages can create false non-reciprocal results.
A manual comparison still shows only the current state. To prove a historical unfollow, you would need an earlier complete follower snapshot and a later one. BskyDelete does not retain those snapshots.
Decide who is actually worth unfollowing
Reciprocity is only one reason to review a relationship. You may still want to follow a news source, expert, organization, friend, or creator that does not follow you. Before removing an account, consider:
- whether its posts are useful to you;
- whether you interact even without a mutual follow;
- whether the profile looks temporarily inactive;
- whether a heuristic signal may have a harmless explanation; and
- whether you need an exported record before changing the relationship.
What BskyDelete does not provide
BskyDelete does not keep historical unfollower records, send real-time unfollower alerts, provide a follower-audience analytics dashboard, run automatic scheduled cleanup rules, or bulk-follow accounts. It does provide current relationship filtering, heuristic bot and inactivity filters in the paid Following workspace, selected-data export, and user-confirmed bulk unfollow.
