Deleting an account is not the same as deleting your content
Bulk deleting content leaves the account in place: the handle stays registered to you, people can still find and follow the profile, and you can post again the next day. Deleting the account removes the account itself, and everything that depends on it goes with it.
BskyDelete only performs the first kind of operation. It connects to an account you authorize and removes the records you select from that account. There is no feature, plan or setting in BskyDelete that closes a Bluesky account, and nothing on this page should be read as an offer to do so.
The official account deletion flow
Account deletion is handled by Bluesky, in the app or on the web, using the account you want to close. The flow asks you to prove control of the account before anything is removed.

Sign in to the account you intend to delete, either in the official Bluesky app or on the web at bsky.app.

Open the account settings for the signed-in account. The deletion entry lives with the other account-level settings rather than with profile or appearance options.

Choose the option to delete the account. Bluesky sends a confirmation code to the email address registered to that account.

Enter the confirmation code together with your password to confirm. The deletion is processed by Bluesky, not by any third-party tool.
Bluesky controls this flow and can change the exact wording or placement of these options at any time. Treat the official Bluesky support site as the authoritative source, and follow the screens you actually see rather than a screenshot from a blog post.
What to do before you delete
Once the account is gone you cannot go back and collect anything from it. Anything you want to keep — the text of old posts, the list of accounts you were following, links you shared — has to be saved while the account still exists.

What deletion does and does not reach
Deleting the account removes your repository from the service that hosts it, and the profile and its records stop being served through Bluesky. Treat the operation as irreversible: plan as though the account, its posts and its relationships cannot be recovered afterwards.
What deletion cannot reach is anything that already left the network. Bluesky is a public network, so posts may have been copied, indexed, screenshotted, quoted or archived by other people and services while the account was live. Closing the account does not retract those copies, and neither does deleting posts individually beforehand.
Alternatives to closing the account
Deleting an account is often a response to a narrower problem: an old timeline you no longer want visible, a following list that no longer reflects your interests, or a burst of posts you regret. Those problems can be addressed without giving up the handle.
Removing old content, clearing likes and reposts, or trimming a following list all leave the account open and the handle registered to you. If you are unsure, start with the reversible-looking options and keep the account; you can always close it later, but you cannot reopen it afterwards.
If you used BskyDelete on the account
BskyDelete connects through the official AT Protocol OAuth flow, so access is granted as a session rather than through a stored password. You can revoke that access from your account provider, and revoking it stops BskyDelete from acting on the account.

Common questions
Can BskyDelete delete my account?
No. BskyDelete removes posts, likes, reposts and follow relationships from an account that remains open. Account deletion is performed in Bluesky using the account settings.
Can I undo the deletion?
Plan as though you cannot. Save anything you want to keep before you start, rather than relying on being able to ask for a restore afterwards.
Does it remove copies elsewhere?
No. Screenshots, quotes, search indexes and third-party archives created while the account was public are outside the reach of both account deletion and content deletion.
Is there a middle option?
Yes. Clearing old posts, likes, reposts or follows leaves the account and handle intact, which is often enough if the goal is a cleaner public profile rather than leaving the network.
