If you decide to review your public Bluesky presence before applying for work, BskyDelete can help you inspect and select current posts, likes, reposts, and followed accounts. It cannot predict whether an employer will view your profile, decide what is “professional,” or improve the outcome of an application.
The useful goal is narrower: define your own review criteria, find matching activity, inspect every selection, and explicitly confirm only the records you intend to delete or unfollow.
Decide What You Are Reviewing First
Write down a short, objective checklist before loading your data. This reduces the risk of making broad decisions while scanning a long list. Possible review questions include:
- Does this post reveal contact details or other information I no longer want public?
- Does it mention a former project, client, or workplace that needs a second look?
- Is the context still clear, or could an old standalone reply now be misleading?
- Do I still want this repost or like associated with my account activity?
- Does the account still belong in the list I follow?
These are prompts for your own judgment, not claims about what recruiters inspect. Employment practices differ by organization, role, and jurisdiction. If a post involves a legal, contractual, or workplace-retention question, get appropriate professional advice before deleting it.
Know What BskyDelete Can and Cannot Change
BskyDelete can load supported activity from the connected account and submit selected deletion or unfollow requests. It does not edit your Bluesky bio, avatar, handle, links, or pinned content. Make those profile changes directly in Bluesky.
It also does not understand the meaning of a post well enough to label it safe, harmful, professional, or inappropriate. Keyword and metadata filters only narrow the list; they do not replace reading the content in context.
Review Posts with a Controlled Workflow
- Connect the account through the official AT Protocol OAuth flow. BskyDelete does not require a Bluesky App Password.
- Open the Posts workspace and wait for the available records to load.
- Search for specific words, names, or topics from your checklist. Date and media filters can help isolate a period or content type. Pro filters can further narrow public engagement-count ranges, mentions, and hashtags.
- Read each matching post and its surrounding context where possible. A keyword match alone is not a reason to delete.
- Select only the posts you have reviewed. Changing media, engagement, mention, or hashtag advanced filters clears the Posts selection. Keyword and date filters do not currently clear it, so review the selection again after changing them.
- If a reference would be useful, export the selected posts to CSV before deletion. The CSV is a review record, not a restore package; BskyDelete cannot recreate a deleted Bluesky record from it.
- Confirm a small batch first and check the reported successes and failures before continuing.
The same review principle applies in the Likes and Reposts workspaces. Treat each as a separate list, use the available filters, and confirm its selection independently. In Following, you can review accounts you currently follow and unfollow selected accounts; you cannot remove followers or view historical unfollow events.
Avoid Over-Cleaning
A complete wipe is not automatically better than a selective review. Older technical discussions, community answers, portfolio links, or thoughtful exchanges may provide useful context. Deleting everything also removes material you may later want to reference.
Before confirming a large selection:
- Recheck the date range and active filters.
- Scan the beginning, middle, and end of the selected result set.
- Export selected rows when you need a record.
- Start with a small batch to verify that the filter matches your intent.
- Check partial failures before retrying, so successful requests are not mistaken for pending ones.
Account Limits and Security
The Free plan can complete up to 30 successful delete or unfollow operations per local calendar day across supported workspaces. Monthly and Yearly remove BskyDelete's daily quota, but Bluesky API limits, retries, and temporary service conditions still apply. No plan guarantees that a large cleanup will finish within a fixed time.
BskyDelete uses the AT Protocol OAuth specification for authorization. Review the access request, do not send passwords or OAuth tokens to support, and disconnect the session after using a shared device.
Finish with a Manual Profile Check
After the selected operations finish, open your profile in Bluesky and review what a signed-out visitor can see. Update profile fields in Bluesky if necessary, check that important context remains, and verify that the intended records are gone.
This process can make your account better aligned with your own current goals. It does not guarantee employer attention, interviews, or a job offer; the verifiable result is simply a user-reviewed set of account changes.
